What is Sous-Vide?
Sous-vide cooking may be a method where you immerse a food item in specific temperature-controlled water (or a “bath,” as I prefer to call it) for an extended period.
The constant and steady temperature cooks your protein very evenly and more gently.
You will need a sous-vide to cook in this manner, but beyond that, it’s pretty simple. Once we first ventured into the planet of sous-vide cooking;
Use BPA-free plastic bags that were resealable, but constantly worried I’d possibly get bacteria into the bag because while they were sealed, they weren’t airtight vacuum sealed. So while it was always figured out, I still worried about contamination.
Cooking your steak in the best buy vide cooker gives a different taste to the food.
Why sous-vide works so well for flank steak?
Sous vide may be a common culinary technique in upscale eateries but has recently become popular among home cooks.
The technique, which suggests “under vacuum,” involves cooking vacuum-sealed foods during a water bath at a continuing temperature. That leads to meat that’s very tender and consistently cooked.
So grass-fed meats, which tend toward toughness, and beefsteak do particularly well with this system. In addition, the constant temperature and prolonged cook time allow enough time to let the steak’s collagen and fat liquefy without overcooking the meat.
So meat is consistently tender and intensely flavorful whenever you cook.

Things to consider for making sous vide flank steak
Cooking steak with sous vide, though, involves simple steps. But it requires care at every stage. From the start till the end, we are giving you some pro tips.
1. Vacuum sealing
For your steak to cook evenly and safely, you must remove all air from the bag holding it. The best way to do this is to vacuum seal it.
Pro-Tip: You can also use the FoodSaver to preserve your garden harvest or to vacuum seal leftovers before you freeze them – keeping them fresher.
2. Temperature
When cooking with sous vide, your temperature should be constant – so that the steak cooks evenly and consistently. For sous vide beefsteak, recipe temperatures vary from 129 F to 134 F. This recipe involves setting your immersion circulator’s temperature to 131.5 F, which produces a nice medium-rare steak – even after searing it at the very end.
3. Timing
Cook it with sous vide flank steak marinade long enough for the animal tissue and fat to liquefy and melt (at least 2 hours) and up to 12 hours. You’ll even toss the steak into the water bath in the morning, and it’ll be ready and warm for dinner.
Tips for sous vide flank steak
- Use a vacuum sealer to seal your bags. So as for the steaks to cook correctly, you want to remove all the air from their packaging.
- Because the plastic is heated, you’ll want to take care of which bags you decide on
- Food Saver bags because they work well for sous vide, are free from BPA and phthalates, and made up of food-safe polyethylene and nylon.
- Sear the steak to end it. While sous vide beefsteak is safe to eat as soon because it comes out of the water bath, searing it gives a pleasant caramelization – developing that delicious, rich crust.
- Vacuum seal your leftovers
